Manage annotations

Find an annotation

1. Open an editable DNA sequence.
2. In Tools on the right sequence tool rail, select Annotations. It is the third tool from the top, below Alignments.
3. Enter part of an annotation name in Search annotations.... The match is not case-sensitive.
4. To filter by feature type, open the funnel beside Type and clear the types that you do not want to see.

This field searches annotation names only. For broader annotation identity matching or a sequence-position result, use Find DNA, amino acids, and annotations.

Rename an annotation

1. Right-click the annotation in the sequence view.
2. Select Edit Annotation.
3. Change Name.
4. Select Save.

Delete an annotation

1. Right-click the annotation in the sequence view.
2. Select Delete Annotation.

Add an annotation

1. Open an editable DNA sequence.
2. Select the bases that the annotation describes. The selected range must not span the circular origin.
3. Right-click the selection and select Add Annotation.
4. Enter a Name and select a feature type in Type.
5. Under Strand, select Reverse (-), None, or Forward (+).
6. Confirm Start and End. These positions are 1-based and inclusive. On a circular sequence, Start can be greater than End for a feature that spans the origin. On a linear sequence, Start must not be greater than End.
7. Select Add.

The new annotation appears as a row in the Annotations drawer.
